What's next?

A few words about a few things. Work continues on Leyland National NPJ472R to prepare it for repaint. This is likely to be early next year, no date booked yet. Doors have been removed for replating amongst other things. Hope to provide a fuller update soon. Am also planning to blog about some railtours from 2005 featuring slam door EMU's.

Lots of beer festival visits planned in the next couple of weeks:

26/27 Sep to St Albans
29 Sep to Bricklayers Arms in Putney
3 Oct to Bedford
5/6 to Ascot
10-13 Oct to Nottingham

I will be working on the Stage bar at St Albans. Persuading customers to join CAMRA at Ascot on the friday and cellar team on the saturday. Then as Bar Manager at Nottingham all open sessions.

Oh and in case you're wondering may find some time for work as well.

This was held at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford. And yes I travelled there on a Leyland national of course. GNU568N is shown below as it arrived for my journey there.

Ascot Nags

Thursday 13th September.

A strange title for this blog and nothing to do with horse racing.

It refers to a special evening at the Nags Head in Reading where all 12 handpumps were to feature beers from Ascot Ales. And also to present the Brewer with some awards from Reading Beer Festival.

An enjoyable evening sampling some delightful Ascot beers and chatting to some friends from the Reading area.

Sussex Arms in Twickenham

Thursday 30th August

Another Weekly Wind Up pub visit. My first time here. It was transformed into an ale and cider emporium just over a year ago. Pump clips adorn the wall showing the many different beers they have sold.

They also do a loyalty card, buy 9 pints of beer and the 10th is free. I have 4 so far so I'll have to go back soon to complete it and start the next one.

It is about 15 minutes walk from Twickenham station plus a number of local buses stop nearby or outside.

Some of the pump clips on the wall are shown below:

Plus a huge garden out back.

Only vinyl music is played here

And finally a couple more views of inside
