23/5/15
Seventh beer festival and third one today. Another new pub for me at the Jackdaw & Star in Homerton, East London,

Just for a change the beer festival was inside.

A good old fashioned island bar here

And some posh seats

The beers drunk there (all halves) were:

Saltaire - Citra and Hop#256
Bad Co - Mud Puddle and Wild Gravity.

The Wild Gravity was my beer of the day. A stunning 5.2% hop monster of an IPA.

My BF50 Challenge update 6

23/5/15

The Adam & Eve in Homerton.

I saw this pub festival on the Facebook page of friend Rob Bolt.  Another pub not visited before. For the festival they had 5 beers from Tintagel brewery in Cornwall. Normally they have one Tintagel beer with others from London brewerys. The Tintagel beers are delivered with the various food items the pub sells from Cornwall.

I had a half of Tintagel Black Knight and Castle Gold here.

I harmed no lobsters here!

My BF50 Challenge update 5

23/5/15

A new pub for me in Docklands. Beer Festival number 5.

Held at the Gun in Coldharbour. Bit of a tortuous walk from Canary Wharf tube station, but a pleasant Thameside gastropub.

Once again, beers outside.

The view across the Thames looked like this:

Halves of Long Arm - Lucky Penny and Birdie Flipper, Wharfebank - Spring Saison and Market Trader were imbibed here..

Just before I left the manager asked me to do some tasting notes for the Long Arm OK IPA. Long Arm beers are brewed at their sister pub in Ealing. So I couldn't refuse a free half could I?

My BF50 Challenge update 4

21/5/15

After the Happy Man, a 5 minute walk round the corner to the Armstrong Gun in Englefield Green. Not visited this pub for about 20 years I think.  I had a pint of Pilgrim Surrey from the outside stillage.

Also I think this is the first beer festival at this pub. All locale festival beers.

Once again, the beers were in the back garden.

My BF50 Challenge update 3

21 May 2015

Third one was a small pub beer festival at the Happy Man in Englefield Green. A popular pub with local students, this was their end of exams festival.

Not far to go for this one.

Yo can guess which beers I drunk there.

The beer festival was in the garden at thebak of the pub.

My BF50 Challenge update 1

2 May 2015

I have the first beer festival done (Reading) and Bram has said he will give £100 to Help for Heroes if I complete. I will match that, anyone else want to support me?

see here for more info about Help for Heroes.

It may sound an easy challenge but i do have other interests other than beer festivals to occupy my free time.

Ian.

My 50 Beer Festival Challenge

2 May 2015

Yesterday was my 49th birthday. A friend has challenged me to visit and drink at 50 beer festivals between now and my 50th birthday.

I have accepted his challenge, so the question now is will I succeed?

I will of course update progress here.

First one is easy, am working at Reading Beer Festival and will find time for a beer or two over the next 2 days.
