Borough Beer House - Farnham

 28/12/23

A new bar opened in Farham on 14th December 2023 called the Borough Beer House. It has the same owners as the nearby Alfred Free House.

6 cask beers and 16 keg beers were available.

I particularly liked the bar layout; 6 taps, 3 handpumps, 6 taps, 3 handpumps, 6 taps. A pleasing symmetry and look. There is a small seating area downstairs with a larger seating area upstairs. There is another beer board upstairs as well.

I had 9 beers, all in third glasses.

The Slaughterhouse Brewery Ltd The Revenge of the Pod People 5.0 Cask
Utopian Brewing Ltd Stout 5.0 Cask
Utopian Brewing Ltd Bohemian British Lager 4.2 Draft
Almasty Brewing Co. Simple Pleasures 4.0 Draft
Marble Beers Ltd Precipice Trail 5.3 Draft
Double-Barrelled Brewery Punnet: Sour Cherry, Blackcurrant And Blood Orange 5.2 Draft
New Bristol Brewery Pastel De Nata Stout 7.0 Draft
Vibrant Forest Brewery I've Got the Remedy (Bourbon BA Edition) 9.2 Draft
Disruption Is Brewing Death By Steamroller 8.0 Draft

A welcome addition to the Farnham pub scene.

Ascot Beer Festival 2023

 6/7 Oct 2023

I worked both days of this festival at Ascot Racecourse.

Both days started off working on volunteercheck-in at the staff entrance.

Once that was finished i worked behind the bars.

Here are some photos from the 2 days.

Finally a couple of photos of one of the races.

I still think the grandstand is a marvelous piece of architecture and engineering and was intersting finding different angles to photograph it.

Rails & Ales at the Watercress Line

9/9/23

A new event at the Watercress Line featuring beer and a diesel loco, two of my hobbies.

I caught the 1045 service.

train in Alton station siding

ready to depart from platform 3

I got the train at Ropley and headed towards the Engineering Shed.

7 beers were here.

I had one of each of the Little Monster beers.

Some photos of the yard

and inside the shed

I then got the steam set to Alresford where I had a half of Alfreds - Purple Reign from the West Country Buffet and the same train up to Medstead station.

A short walk took me to the Triple fff brewery.

The Offf The Rails bar serves mostly Triple fff beers unsurprisingly.

After a couple of beers here, I headed back to Medstead station. My plan being to photograph the station and then the diesel set arrriving from Alton. However the class 47 was having problems and it had been decided to terminate it at Medstead and send it back to Alresford, changing the loco to a class 20 there. No time for photos as the train was about to depart.

At Ropley the class 47 was detached

 and a class 20 attached

I then got the steam set back to Alton.
