A weekend in Leicester

I have not been to Leicester for a long time. The main reason for the visit was to catch up with GNU568N on her summer holiday. So pubs on saturday, buses on sunday.

I'll start off with photos of the new (or not so new) St Pancras station:




And there is a statue of Sir John Betjeman


who was a founding member of the Victorian Society and was also involved with keeping keeping St Pancras station open. Although much changed, the marvelous arched glass roof remains here.

Barley Mow: Langton – Caudle Bitter 3.9




Parcel Yard: Steamin’ Billy – Ashes Ale 3.6%




Old Horse:York – Gold 3.9%

Sunday was sent at the Leicester Heritage Bus Running Day. This was organised by theLeicester Transport Heritage Trust.

Abbey Pumping Station:

Spent some time at Quorn and Woodhouse on the Great Central Railway.
