17 and 24 November 2013
Spent 2 sundays doing some more work on Alder Valley 251. As you may know, this is being prepared for a repaint next year after lots of bodywork repairs etc.
But first some photos of the other 2 Nationals owned by my friends kept at the same yard.
GNU568N is pictured at rest after her East Midlands holiday this year.
Also present is PRR454R, another ex Trent National and currently off road pending decision to restore.
So, what about NPJ472R?
Progress so far
The job that took most of the day on the 17th was attaching new rubber to one of the doors. NOT an easy job and took quite a while to do.
Then refitting the door to the bus
The old front dome is being prepared for re-fitting
24 November 2013
Paul was working on the rear inside underneath the rear seat.
And I was removing plastic coating from seat frames
Thats probably my last bit until Christmas.
I write about real ale drinking and pubs. The Watercress Line heritage railway. Preserved Leyland National buses. Co-owner of a preserved Dennis Dart bus. Also visiting other heritage railways, beer festivals and other trips. Comments welcome.

Leyland National to Essex pubs
2/11/13
A train to Chelmsford, and Leyland National VAR899S (Eastern National 1833) to take me around a few country pubs.
Thatchers Arms - Mount Bures:
Five Bells - Colne Engaine was planned to be visited but bridge repairs meant we couldn't get a bus to the pub.
Then to Finchingfield
The Fox Inn
Oops, forgot to take interior photos
The Three Tuns
The Red Lion (didn't go in here)
Some more photos taken in Finchingfield village
a former pub in the village:
also seen in the village
The bus, ready to leave Finchingfield
and finally back at Chelmsford station
Thanks to Steve Simister for the invite and driving his National for us.
