Harwich Town Photos

 18/2/25

A couple of years ago my Dad moved to Harwich/Dovercourt. This particular day I had arranged to go for lunch in a pub in Harwich with him, my Sister and Brother-In-Law. The occasion being my sisters birthday.

My train arrived at Harwich Town station on time giving me a good half hour to have a wander around and take some photos of things I like.

This structure caught my eye.

A bit of internet research revealed it was the Harwich Train Ferry Berth, a Grade 2 listed structure.

A bit further down the road a view looking across to Felixstowe.

This boat is part of the Trinity House fleet.

A couple of buildings I liked the look of.

Thanks to Ian H for pointing out that the building above is the former Great Eastern Railway Hotel.

 Another boat (with description)

The RNLI

And finally my pub for lunch

The Alma Inn is also a Grade 2 listed building.

 4 real ales were available.

The food was delicious and I highly reccomend it.

Steam Illuminations on the Watercress Line

 3/1/25

As a volunteer on the Watercress Line (34 years if you care), I was offered a Black Friday offer of one free ticket fo a Steam Illuminations service. I chose one after Christmas to avoid kids and Xmas music.

Upon arrival my email reservation barcode was scanned and I was given my ticket.

and a guide

Even some goods wagons were lit up.

A video of the train arriving.

More photos at Alton.

 On board the train.

I brought my own refreshments

You also get a free wristband light

And finally some views at Alresford station.

The music was from the 1960s to 2000s. A very enjoyable trip.

I would highly reccomend this to everyone.
