A Day Trip to Woolston

 7/9/24

I travelled to Woolston to join my sister celebrating her 30th wedding anniversary.

Between the ages of 4 and 12 I lived in Southampton and one of my favourite memories was travelling on the Floating Bridge, a chain ferry across the river Itchen.

It was replaced by the Itchen Bridge in 1977

As I walked from Woolston station I noticed a memorial.

A more detailed description is here.

I took a few photos of the bridge:

I used the panoramic option on my mobile phone for this photo

The anniversary celebration took place here.

On my way home I visited a micropub in Woolston.

Back at Woolston station the former signal box is Grade II listed.

I got a train to Southampton Central, then a train to Eastleigh.

On my walk to my final pub I took some more photos.

My second and final pub of the day was Steam Town Brewery.
